Our Kollin floor boards are available in two different widths and thicknesses. For ultimate durability we recommend the version with 35mm thickness. For balconies and situations with less installation hight we recommend the 26mm variant.

Aluminium
Substructures in aluminium are the perfect solution if:
- The construction heights are low, on balconies for example
- Ventilation underneath cannot be sufficiently ensured
- The maximum possible service life is desired
Aluminium offers several advantages compared to wood:
- Extremely long-lasting
- Durable: can be reused, even when the floorboards need to be replaced
- Does not accumulate any damp = better for the boards laid down
The only “disadvantage” is in a higher initial investment. The price for aluminium substructures amounts to approximately two to three times that of a wooden substructure (but it also lasts 2-3x as long).
Wood (Douglas fir)
Wood is the ideal substructure if:
- There is sufficient construction height
- The budget is limited
- A 100% wood solution is desired
Wood offers several strong advantages:
- Can last for a long time with good ventilation underneath
- Strong dimensions can be used to bridge larger fundament gaps
- Price-attractive
The disadvantage of wood for the substructure is only present if sufficient ventilation underneath is not ensured. This could lead to the substructure wearing out faster than the top surface.

For a premium product such as the Kollin boards, we exclusively recommend a covered fastening. For an invisible screwing, we recommend fittings by the company Eurotec, that we can provide you as a full package.
